This is a quality scarf made from 100% wool. With the derivation of their name found in the latin 'clericus', denoting a scholar, scribe, or secretary, the ancestors of the Clarks of today performed an important function by acting as scribes for both the church and Monarchy. Although found all over Scotland, an important family territory was the area of Penicuik, in Midlothian, with Penicuik House built in the late eighteenth century for Sir James Clerk of Penicuik.
