This material is 100% wool. One of the most powerful clans of the Scottish Borders, the name is first recorded, at Selkirk, as far back as 1120. The clan was firm in its support of Robert the Bruce during the War of Independence with England, and one its famous sons was the great nineteenth century Scottish novelist Sir Walter Scott.
